The Sierra Student Coalition (SSC) is a network of high school and college students from across the country working to protect the environment. The SSC is the student-run chapter of the Sierra Club, the nation's oldest and largest grassroots environmental organization.

Our mission is to develop leaders for the environmental movement by training, empowering, and organizing youth to run effective campaigns that result in tangible environmental victories.

Unlike most national organizations, the SSC is student-run (meet the Executive Committee). Students not only set our national campaign priorities, they develop new resources, design and run our trainings programs, and support the SSC’s volunteer network. With more than 250 groups nationwide, the SSC develops environmental leaders through our award-winning grassroots trainings programs and works to maximize our campus-based effectiveness through the creation and maintenance of state and regional networks of high school and college students. The SSC’s national headquarters are located in the Sierra Club’s National Legislative office in Washington, DC. We offer unpaid internships throughout the year at our DC office. If you are interested in interning with us, download the application.
